I found the chart very interesting. I did not know that cycling consumes less energy compared to walking. Another interesting observation – Car traveling at 60 MPH consumes considerably more energy compared to 30 MPH
Problem of cycling in our cities could be high risk of meeting with accident. It is impossible even to imagine a separate cycle lane in Indian city centers. On the other hand, use of Cycle rickshaws in Munich and Dublin city centers has impressed me.
A little imagination and will (muscle too) power can impact our lives positively.

China is slowly moving in this direction. A substantial part of Chinese population uses bicycles as means of transportation This includes well off citizens who can travel in the most expensive vehicles if they want. There has been a rising awareness in China over the years to preserve non renewable energy sources & prevent environmental pollution. Its high time that India follow the footsteps shown by her neighbour.
Recently I read about "Cycle on rent" in France - this is always there in our country - even today many uses this facility - not because they are concerned about the climate but it is very affordable.
Major concern associated with urban cycling in our country is road safety. We can not even walk safely, where is the question of cycling?
